Our History

The originally called “Bethel Baptist Church” was organized in 1887 by Rev. P. H. Collins. Since its inception, the church has been blessed with the following pastoral leaders: Rev. A. Lyons, Rev. A.A. Demmond, Rev. M.C. Griff, Rev. J.S. Vick, Rev. L.B. Kemp, Rev. T.R. Simmons, Rev. O.B. Clayborne, Rev. A.L. Bradley, Rev. K.L. Thompson and the present, Rev. C.B. Frazier.

In 1991, Pastor Frazier accepted the position of Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church of Sealy.  At that time, the following deacons were active:  Deacon F. O. Tyler, Deacon Edward Palmer, Deacon Richard Webster and Deacon Ray Smith.  The trustees were:  Bro. Gilbert Bassett, Sr. and Bro. Freddie Sparks.  As the years progressed, Deacon L. C. Smith, Sr., Deacon Sammy Miller and Deacon Peter Clark were added to the deacons’ staff.

In 1999, a historical event took place.  Bro. Marvin Morris accepted his call from God and was ordained into the ministry.  Rev. Marvin Morris is the only “son in the ministry” in the Bethel Baptist Church of Sealy’s history.

Under Pastor’s leadership, several programs have been implemented.   Some include: New Members Orientation Class, Outreach Ministries, Brotherhood Union, Youth ministry and other spiritual development ministries.

In 2015, the name of the church was changed to Bethel Baptist Church of Sealy.

Bethel is reaching new heights.  It continues to grow spiritually as we yield to the Will of God by following the divine plan of God, given through His “man of God”. Bethel Baptist Church of Sealy continues.

What We Believe

We believe in one God in three persons in the Godhead. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only way to God. We believe that God speaks and acts as Revealer, Reconciler, Redeemer, Lord and Liberator. We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, dwells in us and guides us through our daily work. We believe the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practices.

About Our Pastor

Pastor C.B. Frazier is a native of Gayles, Louisiana, a suburb of Shreveport, Louisiana.  From humble beginnings, Pastor Frazier grew up on a plantation where the majority of residents were cotton pickers and farmers. He was raised by a lady who was not family who gave him love and godly instruction for his life that he was able to build on.  Even during his youth, he felt the call of God on his life.  He would be in the fields talking to God.  It was always said that Pastor could pray any situation away because of his strong conviction in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Growing up in St. Abraham Baptist Church, Pastor Frazier was on the Usher Board and was eager to assist in any way possible to promote the kingdom of God.

Upon graduating from George Washington Carver High School, Pastor Frazier moved to Houston, Texas in search of a better life, educationally as well as financially.  His educational background includes: Gulf Coast Bible College, University of Texas (management and behavioral science), on-job supervisory training, College of Biblical Studies and other training courses.

Pastor is an avid student of the Bible and a visionary who has a heart for the people. He has a genuine passion for helping people, saved or unsaved.

In 1973, Pastor Frazier married the love of his life, Venora W. Frazier.  They have been blessed with a loving family: two adult children and spouses, and two grandchildren.

On February 3,1991, Pastor accepted the call to Bethel Baptist Church of Sealy.  Even though continuing to work outside of the ministry, our Pastor established many ministries and auxiliaries to develop the body of Christ in becoming disciples. His motto and ministry focus is Mark 16:15, which states: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

It is important that our daily lives be centered around what God wants for our lives and how to help others realize the awesome power and significance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
